Traceable Environmental Credits

How Carrot credits are generated — from physical events through dMRV verification to auditable, tradable assets.

Each Carrot credit is backed by a real physical event — digitally verified, immutably recorded, and auditable by anyone.

How a Carrot credit is generated

The process begins in the physical world: a batch of waste materials is collected, weighed, and identified at origin. This event generates a MassID — an immutable digital record that captures material type, weight, and chain of custody.

The MassID accompanies the material throughout the entire recycling chain. When it reaches an accredited facility and passes methodology verification, it generates a verified certificate and a matching environmental credit — a tokenized, fungible, and tradable asset.

Credit lifecycle at a glance

Physical event → MassID (immutable record) → dMRV verification → Certificate (GasID / RecycledID) → Credit (TCC / TRC) → Retirement with public trail

What this means for your organization

Complete audit trail Any auditor can walk the chain of evidence — from the retirement receipt to the physical event that originated the credit. The trail is public, permanent, and accessible via Carrot Explorer or any blockchain block explorer.

Event data, not estimates Verification is based on data collected directly from the recycling event — not on projections, statistical models, or inferences. Each claim has corresponding physical evidence.

Distributed social impact More than 70% of the revenue from each credit goes directly to supply chain participants — from waste generators and haulers to processors and recyclers. Your purchase directly funds more recycling capacity.

Open-source and auditable The verification code (MvA) that executes methodology rules is open source (LGPL-3.0). Any technical team can audit the verification logic before a purchase decision.

Available credit types

TCC — Tokenized Carbon Credit GHG emissions avoided (e.g., methane diverted from landfill via composting). Issued under the BOLD Carbon (CH₄) methodology. Aligned with UNFCCC CDM, EPA WARM, and GHG Protocol. US$ 50.00 per metric ton of CO₂ equivalent.

TRC — Tokenized Recycling Credit Certified recycled material, processed at an accredited facility. Issued under the BOLD Recycling methodology. US$ 103.53 per metric ton.
